Pead stock
PEAD stands for **Post-Earnings Announcement Drift**. It is a stock market phenomenon where the stock price continues to drift in the direction of an earnings surprise after the earnings announcement. In simple terms, when a company announces its earnings, and those earnings are significantly higher or lower than expected, the stock price tends to react immediately. However, instead of the price adjusting fully at the moment of the announcement, it often continues to move in the direction of the earnings surprise over the following days or even weeks. This drift can be upward if the earnings are better than expected or downward if they are worse. PEAD is an anomaly in the market because, according to the Efficient Market Hypothesis (EMH), all information should be priced into a stock immediately after it becomes available. However, PEAD suggests that the market may not fully absorb or react to earnings information right away, creating an opportunity for traders who can predict or react to this drift.
